Movie Review All The Presidents Men - 703 Words

Before watching All the President’s Men, I knew next to nothing about the Watergate scandal. All I knew was that after that presidential scandal, every kind of political scandal that would come up would be coined with â€Å"–gate† at the end of name of the scandal. My expectations for the quality of the movie were very high because of the people that I know, who have seen the movie, said it was a phenomenally well-acted, intensely-told detective story about how two reporters of the Washington Post brought to light what really happened with the Watergate incident, which eventually lead up to the resignation of the 37th President of the United States, Richard Nixon. Initially starting out, Bob Woodward (portrayed by Robert Redford) had only been†¦show more content†¦In context to the United States’ history before the Watergate scandal, the U.S. had rarely seen such a situation as this before. Sure, scandals existed and happened, but hardly at this level to the POTUS. President Warren G. Harding is an example of a presidency term that was riddled with scandals left and right due to the company that he kept, even leading up to the imprisonment of one of his cabinet members (book). However, in light of the film’s true story, the reason Nixon ended up resigning from the office was because he was about to be the second president in United States’ history to be impeached (Andrew Johnson was the first back in the late 1860s). His placement in the scandal was that he knew of the break-in and the dastardly attempts at sabotaging the Democratic party’s candidates, and he did nothing about them. Denying everything at fi rst, he, behind the scenes, worked hard to cover up any involvement that he may have had, including issuing out orders to the Attorney General, Elliot Richardson, and Deputy Attorney General, William Ruckelshaus, to fire the lead prosecutor, Archibald Cox, hired to investigate the Watergate scandal. However despite all of this, one of the more famous acts during this scandal involved Nixon and the presidential right of executive privilege, which gave the president the right to refuse certain subpoenas (book). When it was brought to attention that the Oval Office had aShow MoreRelatedAll The President s Men1718 Words   |  7 PagesMaya Mogensen MCM 150: Media and Society 7 December 2016 All the President s Men versus Everyone Else The Watergate Scandal is arguably one of the worst cases of illegal activities where a President has abused public trust, presidential power, and deliberately obstructed justice. Why Same Sex Marriage Should Be Legal Everywhere - 1415 Words

Celina Pedisic Pedisic 1 Mrs. Vandeven ENG 3U 17 July 2015 Why Same Sex Marriage Should be Legal Everywhere If two people are happy with one another, they should be allowed to be together. Someone’s sex does not determine whom they can and cannot marry. The only difference between what we consider a ‘normal’ marriage and a gay marriage is simply by the genitalia that we have and the gender we identify as. We need to stop focusing on the gender of couples and start focusing on the love that they share. Same sex marriage should be legal everywhere because it is an issue of equal rights, it does not harm anyone and if love is legal, then so should same sex marriage. Imagine being unable to visit the love of your life in the hospital as they are fighting for their survival. Imagine watching everyone around you getting married and divorced and married again while you are not given the opportunity to get married once. This is a reality for so many same sex couples. Gay and lesbian couples want to get married for the same reasons straight couples do. A legal citizen should not be excluded from the same rights simply because of their sexual identification. Denying someone their rights based off of their sexual preference is like just like denying someone their rights based off of the color of their skin. In the 50’s, interracial marriage was illegal. How ever, modern society understands this to be an unjust law that denied equal rights, and that is exactlyShow MoreRelatedEssay about Same-Sex Marriage and Adoption Should Be Legal703 Words   |  3 PagesSame-sex marriage and adoption should be legal, it should be allowed in every state, every where. Marketing in a New Venture Free Essays

Today is a very different day as far as communication goes. We live in the age of NOW! Over are the days when one has to wait for a letter from a friend, go to the grocery store before it closes or run to the bank before it closes to pay a bill.   These advances come with set backs, such as scams. We will write a custom essay sample on Marketing in a New Venture or any similar topic only for you Order Now I have had some emails sent to me about winning a lottery that I have never played.   Such people pray on the destitute and ignorant.   They lurk anywhere from emails to job postings.   I must say, I respect Craigslist for having warnings and allowing a posting to be flagged if it seems at all suspicious.   The craigslist team has put forth much effort to minimize such attempts. I have not seen this on many other sites. Craigslist has a reputation of being the ‘go to’ spot for employment, gigs and events.   If they were not careful about such things, they would probably lose a lot of business. This forces businesses to work hard to at least appear legitimate.   It also puts a new twist on ‘let the buyer beware.’   With so many scams on the internet, it is quite difficult to call a spade a spade.   The warnings from Craigslist enable the consumer to   make an informed decision and probably be less likely to deal with companies unheard of by most. It also empowers the average joe by perhaps prompting him to take that extra step to contact   the   Better Business Bureau or consumer affairs to verify the legitimacy of these companies.   As an avid user of craigslist, I am leary of ambiguous terms used in ads.   Such ads I shy away from.   I have come across ads that have been flagged and it helps me to feel that other users are looking out for each other.   Craigslist creates a sense of comraderie and the safety in the big brother is watching theory. It has a commune feel and if that is not what they were going for, it is definitely not a bad side effect. I had never heard of craigslist until a friend of mine mentioned it to me. Once I went on it, I was hooked. I wasted less time on spam in disguise because the community was looking out for me.   I learned of it by word of mouth, which is perhaps the way some other services would benefit.   For example, a service for home replenishment would benefit from word of mouth.   It is purely the nature of the medium that suggests this.   Let us say that we know of a birth.   The new mom may not be able to get around and may want her groceries delivered. I may tell her about it. Perhaps a friend broke his leg on a ski trip and cannot get around so well, I may speak of it then.   Maybe many students are studying for a final and are so enthralled in the studies that we cannot take a break. I may suggest it at that point.   It is the type of entity that requires a situation to entertain the thought of utilizing the service.   Another situation, such as a graduation (event) lends itself easily to viral marketing.   Requiring those that I have emailed to respond RSVP will give the hosting site information a marketing list and some of them will partake in such an event.   A service to allow incoming college students to create personal pages, organized by their institutions, may benefit from word of mouth marketing with limited viral marketing. Since it is organized by the institution, it limits access to those that are not privy to the institutional privileges. A service using a device to look up barcodes can definitely benefit from bootstrapping.   The items that are being looked up will probably link to the company or manufacturer of such products.   They in turn will send similar product emails to the person looking up the products.   This may result in traditional marketing, such as coupons and mailings with an instant direct marketing list. Overly Obsessed Fangirl Overly Attractive Band Dude Essay Example For Students

Overly Obsessed Fangirl Overly Attractive Band Dude Essay If only fangirling were as simple as marriage, then at least you could pick who you’re letting ruin your life. But, it’s not that easy. One day you’re living a normal, productive life then he shows up rubbing his perfection in your face. Trust me, I’ve been there. I was somewhat normal until Michael Clifford (yes, the babe of a guitarist for 5 Seconds of Summer) came along out of nowhere and stole my heart like the six foot tall, Australian, bandit he is. It all happens so quickly you don’t have time to process what’s going on before he’s taken over your life completely. As the old saying goes â€Å"find something you love and let it kill you†. He isn’t actually going to kill you but he will demolish any chance you have at a real social life. Once your band member of interest is established follow him on Twitter and get his notifications sent to your phone so everytime he tweets, you know about it. Save pictures of him on your phone so you can set them as your background because he’s just so cute. Before you know it, even that won’t be enough. Buy his band’s merch and tickets to their shows. It’ll all add up to a ridiculous amount of money, but you don’t care. He’s worth it, he makes you happy, he’s your sunshine. Tape posters of him on your bedroom walls and listen to his music non-stop because you can’t get enough of his voice, or how he drums with such passion, or how effortlessly he strums his bass, or in my case, how freaking amazing he is at shredding on his black and white Gibson Les Paul guitar. Set your alarm on your phone to an audio of him yelling your name because that’s the only way you’ll wake up. Personally, I always look forward to cold weather because the way Michael pulls his sleeves down to cover his hands, resembling little sweater paws. He’s an actual kitten. If you’re anything like me, you’ll fall so hard, you just want to know where he’s hiding your voodoo doll because you can’t control yourself. The opportunity will come to see him; you sit in front of your computer, credit card in hand, Ticketmaster opened, waiting two hours for these tickets to go on sale because you have to go. Arrive to the venue eight hours early because it’s general admission and you want to be close. He walks out on stage and you swear you see him shining brighter than the flame inside his eyes. He’ll glance at you in the crowd and if you don’t scream so loud it hurts in your head and your heart and your chest and you have trouble catching your breath, then you probably didn’t react accordingly. This feeling you’ve never felt before will wash over you and you will cry. If the girl next to you doesn’t get concerned and ask if you’re okay, you’re not crying hard enough. If you get the chance to meet him, you hold him tight and never want to let him go. All of the countless hours you’ve spent fangirling over your band babe have lead up to this very moment. I’ve been there, held tight in my sunshine’s arms, wishing for the embrace to last forever. When the night is over, you’ll have such mixed emotions. You don’t know if you’re happy you just had the best time of your life, or sad because it’s officially over. You’ll give every ounce of energy you had singing back to this boy you love, you will begin to feel weak walking out of the venue. But, even though your dizzy head is numb, you swear your heart is never giving up. He’s the reason, the only reason.
